HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2009
HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2009
Scenario 1:
Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2008 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.
Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins.. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2008 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.
Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2008 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.
Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt..
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2008 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.
Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.
2008 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.
Scenario 6:
Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2008 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.
Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2008 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents -- and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2008 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

MY WEEKEND..ALL 4 DAYS WORTH!
Well....Thursday boss asked everyone if they wanted VOT'S (voluntary off time) So I took an hour and then decided to take Friday off as well. I was planning to to take a half day Monday for a Dr. appointment...Then said what the heck and took Monday too! Friday I went and paid my property taxes...let me tell ya the charm of that wore off...lol. After that I went to downtown books...a huge HUGE used book store! two floors of pure bliss!!!! Picked up a couple books for roomie and several for me...lol.
Then I went to South Milwaukee to another used book store that a friend of mine owns (Re-reads paper back Exchange) and bought several more books,and visited for a while. I got me some Jeffery Deaver (5).....Dean Koontz (2).........a James Patterson....a Stephen King...and a Patricia Cornwell...Roomie got Valley of the Dolls and Catcher in the Rye....and for a funny I got her "V"...lol (from the T.V. mini-series)
Saturday..guess what I did??? Parked my butt on the couch and read a book..lol..One I started a while back..was about 190 pages into it and I finished it....was 542 page book...Could not put it down.....Jeffery Deaver's "The twelfth Card" lots of plot twists. Saturday was a great day for that because we had another snowstorm...grrrrrrr. Had to interrupt the book reading once to go shovel. Sunday I did the normal laundry ...dishes..even mopped my floors...ick. Monday Dr.s appointment..I lost 8.8lbs!! WOOT! I do have to get fasting labs done yet will be doing that Wednesday morning 7:30 am..grr will be starving to death before I get there...lol. I went to lunch afterwards....Cafe LULU's...yummie!! I had me a "mooney tuna" and some lulu chips..yum!
Today it was back to work as usual...
Then I went to South Milwaukee to another used book store that a friend of mine owns (Re-reads paper back Exchange) and bought several more books,and visited for a while. ANYDAY OFF WORK IS A GOOD DAY...
Good morning!!! I had a wonderful day yesterday...was off work...will be off Monday as well....Dr's appointment.....Friday was just a for fun day. I went downtown to pay property taxes....and then went to Downtown books...it's a local used book store...could roam around in there for days..lol 2 floors worth!!! Roomie said as I left..if I don't see you back by tomorrow morning I'm calling 911..lmaooo. I asked her if she wanted any books...she requested Vally of the dolls and Catcher in the rye...so I picked them up for her...I got me 2 Jeffery Deavers and a James Patterson. Then I headed to the other side of town to another used book store that a friend of mine owns..called Re-reads..paperback exchange..in South Milwaukee. Nice little store..got some more Jeffery Deavers and Dean Koontz....and a Patricia Cornwell. Will be set for reading material for a while.
Floyd has found a new "friend" (Floyd is one of roomies cats) She has a "go duster" and I was teasing him with it....and she came out of her room one morning and he was sitting on the kitchen table....even tho he knows he don't belong up there...she said he was sooo cute she said he was "talking" to it...lmaooo, that must have been the cutest thing...That cat has issues I swear. He is a sweetie tho. I have a pic of them somewhere..i just don't know where..lol.
Not much else going on around here not to much drama with brother #2 Me and roomie watched a movie yesterday..Conspiracy theory with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts......We have to make sure brother #2 NEVER EVER sees that movie....lmaoo..he is a strange one...thinks the government watches you threw your cable box......and that the traffic cams are there to watch you where ever you go..We don't think he needs to see that movie...He also thinks the movie the matrics is based on truth....

HOLY PROSTITUTES
A man is driving down a deserted stretch of highway when he notices a sign out of the corner of his eye....It reads:
SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION10 MILES
He thinks this is a figment of his imagination and drives on without second thought....Soon he sees another sign which reads:
SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION 5 MILES.
Suddenly he begins to realize that these signs are for real and drives past a third sign saying:
SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION NEXT RIGHT
His curiosity gets the best of him and he pulls into the drive. On the far side of the parking lot is a stone building with a small sign next to the door reading:

He climbs the steps and rings the bell. The door is answered by a nun in a long black habit who asks, 'What may we do for you ! my son?

I FINALLY HAVE ONE FOR FOOD FRIDAY...LOL
LAZY CABBAGE ROLLS
1 lb ground beef
1/2 head of cabbage
1 lg can of tomato sauce (you can use spaghetti sauce if you want)
rice (one cup rice 2 cups water)
salt and pepper
chop cabbage into chunks,steam
brown ground beef,drain...add in tomato sauce cooked rice
add in steamed cabbage. heat through
yum cabbage rolls without the work...lol
oh..My roomie did good at the Dr. Was a brave brave patient!! She was quite the basket case when we first went in the Dr's office . He was a nice guy tho and did a great,great job of calming her down (and me too) Took the time to explain some of her options.,and explaining the difference between the needles that a neurologist would use (she had the same test done by a neurologist a few years back...thats why she was nervous).This Dr. was a rehab Dr. She said it didn't hurt that bad this time.
After we got done at the Dr's we went and had a great lunch. I did manage to spend most of the day in jammies but...I got a craving for ice-cream...so I had to get dressed...lol Because sometime's when ice cream calls you just have to listen......and yes I got some for roomie too!

A FEW DAYS OFF.......
I am taking a few days off....Thursday..I am going with my Roomie to the Dr. She is having some test for her carpal tunnel..the one with the needles..ewwwww So I told her I would go with her. And Friday I think I will have a "jammie" day...lol. Maybe.
Not much going on around here...supposed to be "warmer" tomorrow..lol a whole 28 degrees....WOOOO HOOOO....almost shorts weather...not.
One of the ladies I work with has pneumonia..again..poor little thing....seems everytime she gets a cold she gets it. We tease her a bit at work..put some meat on those bones! She is all of 5 foot 2 and weighs all of 12 lbs....lol.
well hopefull I will have more intresting things to write about later this weekend.
